Partnership for a Drug-Free America: "Scream"

Partnership for a Drug-Free America

What if no-one heard your cries for help? This award winning spot was created to encourage friends and family to get help for their loved ones struggling with addiction. The campaign was a huge success and created quite a buzz on-line. Here's an excerpt from the Vh1 message boards: January 11th, 2008 Surprised Says: I was NOT going to watch because I don’t like watching“train wrecks.” A friend told me it wasn’t a typical VH1 show and I should watch it. This friend knows I’m a recovering alcoholic who would NOT enjoy watching what I figured to be “reality” of fellow addicts’ struggles being mocked. Wow, was my impression wrong. The program was tastefully done (if there is such a thing when strangers film people at their most vulnerable). I was stunned; it was very powerful. p.s. by the way, the commercial at the end, with people silently crying for help behind the music, REALLY got to me, it made me cry - I was there, man, so glad I got help…
